Symantec has reported a spike in incidences of spam containing URLs pointing to .in domains. The rate has grown significantly over the past two months, as opposed to only a few significant spikes over the past year. The .in domain now accounts for 2.34 percent of URLs and ranks fifth, behind .com, .ru, .net and .br, though .com still has the lion's share with 68.47 percent of URLs.
The emails typically try to scare or extort recipients, or tempt them with scams related to discounts and insurance
