Hardware website The Tech Report has published a study of SSD prices over the past year which reveals sharp declines in average selling prices from all major vendors, with the notable exception of Intel. Declines ranged from 38 percent to as much as 73 percent for specific models from other vendors. The combined average was an encouraging 46 percent. Costs per gigabyte now range from US$ 0.82 to $2.31 with the best value to be found in 120, 128, 240 and 256 GB models. The trend is good news for buyers, especially since hard drive prices have remained infl ated since last year's floods in Thailand.
