NIKON COOLPIX P310

Nikon have launched the P310 from their professional point-and-shoot line up. It is available in India in a single color option - black and looks classy. The design of the P310 is minimalistic and hardly differs from its predecessor, the P300. The only notable difference between the two models is the inclusion of a function button at the front, which assists in easily accessing frequently used options. The three-inch display at the back has a resolution of 921,000 dots and is fl ush with the body of the camera. The multifunctional scroll wheel at the back is built well, is quick and proves useful with its multitude of functions. The Nikon Coolpix P310 features a large aperture of F/1.8, which sets it apart from the rest. A wide aperture allows more light to hit the sensor, giving the camera the ability to capture better shots in low light conditions. Nikon have added a 16.1 megapixel sensor which can capture high-quality photographs that can be printed on large format papers easily. Nikon has added a 4.2x optical zoom NIKKOR lens that stretches from a wide angle of 24 to a telephoto of 100. To help in minimizing image blur, the company has added a lens shift type vibration reduction system. This helps in negating blur to quite a large extent. One of the other highlighted features of the camera is its 1080p video recording capability. This model has fast shooting, allowing you to record videos at a frame rate of 120 fps. Nikon has added a variety of scene modes on the camera and besides the standard options found on most compact cameras, this model allows you to capture images in 3D as well. The Nikon P310 performs a lot better than other compact cameras available in the market. During outdoor photography, we observed that all colors appeared accurate and there was hardly any trace of color fringing seen across the edges of subjects facing bright areas. There was a lot of detail visible as well and the image quality was as good on a PC as it was on the camera’s display. During indoor shots, we noticed that all colors were rendered well and there was a lot of detail in each of the images captured. The only real issue we noticed was that there was some grain in the indoor photographs. However, the grain was not prevalent to such an extent that it rendered the image unusable. While recording videos, we observed that there were no faults whatsoever in the recording. The Nikon Coolpix P310 is available in India at a market operating price of Rs 15,250. Featuring semi-manual and manual features, this model can be a great choice for those looking to upgrade from a standard compact camera to a slightly advanced model offering you the ability to alter settings. If you are interested in purchasing a camera with a variety of shooting modes, we would definitely recommend the P310 as it comes at quite a competitive price.
